Chemspec Environmental Policy

Chemspec Baltimore has implemented and is maintaining an Environmental Management System (EMS) based on ISO 14001, the International and American EMS Specification, that includes commitments by top management to comply with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and other requirements; to use prevention of pollution as the preferred method for correcting and preventing environmental impacts; and to continually improve the EMS itself with the expectation that improvements in the EMS will result in environmental performance improvements.

In meeting these commitments, Chemspec Baltimore has established an EMS Team and given it authority to identify the environmental aspects of Chemspec’s activities, products, and services; to determine which environmental aspects have or can have a significant impact on the environment; and to establish environmental objectives and targets and management programs to achieve them.

The EMS Team is further empowered to determine what training, monitoring and measuring, and operational controls are necessary in order to prevent the occurrence of significant environmental impacts.

Additional responsibilities have been delegated to the EMS Team for maintaining access to all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and other requirements; for periodically evaluating compliance with the environmental laws, regulations, and other requirements; for communicating both internally and externally about the EMS; for establishing procedures for EMS documentation and records keeping; and for periodically auditing the EMS itself for conformance with the requirements of ISO 14001 and management’s expectations for an EMS.

In addition to defining and periodically reviewing this Environmental Policy, top management is responsible for delegating responsibility and authority for the EMS; for providing the human, technological, and financial resources essential to the implementation and control of the EMS; and for periodically reviewing the EMS for continuing suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness.

All employees and onsite contractors and suppliers are expected to uphold this policy.
